30 Day De-Junkify Challenge
There’s nothing that brings me more peace than living in a clean, decluttered space. And let’s be honest, we can all use a little more peace in our lives these days!
The problem is I REALLY like my stuff.
There’s no way I’m going to ever be a minimalist, but I can take control of my space and maintain it well. That’s where the 30 Day Dejunkify Challenge comes in.
I’ve previously decluttered for 30 days focusing on one room.
BEFORE
AFTER
But for this challenge we’re making a tiny bit of progress in multiple areas of our homes.
30 Day Dejunkify Guidelines
I’ve created a super simple daily list that you can use to remove clutter and junk from your home one tiny baby step at a time. If removing that one item inspires you to remove a few more items, great!
BUT it’s super important to make this fun and not overwhelming, so no hour-long decluttering sessions or Konmari’ing your place, okay?
Promise me.
To join in you’ll be taking that ONE item each day and placing it either in the trash or in a donation box/bag. When the 30 days are over, we’ll take the donation items to the donation center and be done with them.
I’ll be sharing photos of the items I dejunk to keep you motivated.
To play along with me, follow the instructions below:
1. Join The Peaceful Mom Community for a printable checklist of the daily items for the challenge. (Members already received the checklist in your email.)
2. Grab a bag, box or bin to collect your items. Place the container in the bottom of a closet, in the corner of your garage or behind a piece of furniture so you won’t see it all the time.
3.Leave a comment below saying you’re in. (Everyone who comments will be entered to win a digital prize pack and $20 PayPal cash.)
4. Follow the checklist and dejunkify!
PLEASE NOTE: While you’re grabbing your ONE item each day you may be tempted to declutter more items. The rule for the game is that if it takes less than 30 seconds for you to remove the items, you can take them.
The point of the 30 Day Dejunkify is to quickly remove one item each day for 30 days to create a habit of regularly looking for items we can get rid of. To make this habit stick, you need to keep the game fun and avoid overwhelm at all costs.

I used to follow you for a long time I thought I still was not sure what happened lol i rejoined. I have been struggling with depression ect. And I been challenging myself to declutter a lot. Going through things stresses me out and the clutter stresses me out. This is a list that I can do! Thanks for your awesome ideas and the support over the years!
Welcome back Amy! I’m so glad you’re here. ๐
And the list is helpful for you.
A little late to the party, but I’m going for it. I grew up with a mom who always had a donation box available, so it’s a staple in our home. With charities being closed, I let it slide and now need to get on the ball! I have a pick-up scheduled for the first week of July.
Awesome Carolyn! Thanks for joining us!

I get stuck and overwhelmed and then have 6-7 unfinished projects which just makes the house even more cluttered and therefore stressful.

I get overwhelmed then I feel that I will never be able to clean the house like I want it clean. Sometimes I think others expect my home to look like a museum.
I’m with you all the way
Those expectations can be paralyzing Shay. Glad you’re joining us!

When I first started reading about a 30 day decluttering challenge, i felt myself getting overwhelmed, but then I got to the part that said just one thing each day. And I was like “I can do this one. I can do this!” Now I’m excited to get started. Thank you for making something that I can actually accomplish. Thank you!
You are so welcome Sarah! That’s exactly the point. Let’s avoid the overwhelm. ๐
