Well, my plan to save money for our emergency fund by spending less on food may have slightly backfired. After two weeks of super low grocery budgets I realized that I had cut the budget too far and I had to re-stock so I am over my normal $125 Budget this week by $28.
We were able to save $150 to our emergency fund in the last two weeks just from cutting the grocery budget and thankfully my husband’s paycheck was larger this week so I could cover the extra $28 without dipping into savings.

Good Day!
Have been following you for awhile now (even before you moved). Love some of your ideas, but there is always one thing that bothers me. I have seen some of your pictures of food and understand that you have teens in your home but some of the portion sizes seem Awfully Small to me. I know that each persons family is different and the prices here in Westchester County, NY are higher but…………… God continue to bless you and yours!
So sorry if my photos caused any confusion, or if you felt frustrated by my posts Bibi. I wasn’t really thinking about portion sizes when taking the photos of the food but more about trying to take a nice picture — haha!
Trust me, no one is starving over here. 🙂 We do not have athletes and my husband is not in a physically demanding job like construction so we probably eat less than some families but we definitely eat. It also helps that we have some fat and protein at just about every meal so we feel full with less food than if we ate more carbs.
I post my menus not to say that everyone can feed their family for $125 but simply to give ideas and to encourage moms to meal plan so that they can spend less on groceries. You should, of course, do what works best for your family. 🙂
