If you missed my post last week, we decided to raise the grocery budget from $100 back to $125 a week because I now have two teens who need to eat a gluten free diet for medical reasons. We order most of our gluten free flours and snack foods from Vitacost so you won’t see many of those in my grocery shopping.
This week I shopped only at Publix because it was on my way home from another errand and I had a limited amount of time during which I could shop.
Publix Produce
I did not find any really great produce deals except for the blueberries which were $2.50/pint. They are usually $2.50 – $3.00 for a half pint this time of year.
Publix Meat, Dairy and Frozen
[not pictured: Gluten Free Pizza Crust]
The hot dogs, frozen sausage patties and cheese were on sale this week but I paid full price for the wings because that’s what my husband wants for the Super Bowl. 🙂
Weekly Total: $120.67
February Monthly Total: $120.67

We are a family of four with food allergies, so I’m careful about purchases..I do a lot of homemade cooking.
From Feb 1-11, here’s our dinner menu:
chicken fried steak and fries, beef stew, slow cooker bbq chicken with homemade rolls, chicken sandwiches, smoked pork ribs, slow cooker bbq beef ribs, chicken stromboli and chicken with mushrooms.
Breakfast and lunches are light here and we have enough oatmeal, cereal, bread, eggs, tuna and soup for those meals. Any leftover dinner items are eaten for lunch as well.
I also purchased: 1 cantaloupe, 2 lbs organic strawberries, 8 bananas, whipped cream, 7 cans oranges, organic bag of onions, pretzels, 3 pkgs yeast,1 box barley, big can v-8 juice, 3 gallons milk, head of lettuce, 1 organic tomato, 3 mushrooms, and a box of coffee cake. Spent $128 for everything. I hope to spend about $250/mth for food. So far, it looks like I am on target. Each dinner will usually have enough leftovers for 1 or 2 days.
Thanks for sharing your meal plan. Those BBQ beef ribs sound yummy!
