I apologize for not posting my shopping totals last Friday but we had a very busy week as a family and I devoted every spare minute to finishing my 2016 Joyful Life Planner. (Click here to see what’s inside + a 60% Off bundle for the next 48 hours!)
Last week my total was well over the budget at $156.89 because we were out of most condiments, I bought a few items for our Thanksgiving dinner and I found some good deals on meat.
PUBLIX
This week I stopped by Publix for some sale items (BOGO Lender’s bagels, Lay’s Chips, Ronzoni Pasta and Smithfield bacon). We are in between orders of my usual bacon from Zaycon Foods but one of the packages will go in the freezer for later.
The sliced Italian bread will be used for sandwiches and French Toast this week. It would be cheaper to make my own but I know that’s not going to happen. I also picked up Wheat Thins for $2.50 a box which I will serve with dip as a Thanksgiving Day appetizer.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, thankfully my husband’s employer gives us a turkey every year so I didn’t have to add that to the grocery list.
ALDI
I am so glad that Aldi has gluten free products now. I picked up a package of pretzels and some crackers for my daughter for far less than what they cost at other grocery stores.

Your Thanksgiving plans sound so relaxing, fun and full of new traditions..enjoy and thank you for all the time you put into your blog? We are starting new traditions this year as my hubby was recently diagnosed with diabetes. So, completely overhauling the fridge and freezer put our grocery budget way over. If any of your readers have any tips for someone cooking for someone who is a diabetic while staying on a budget I would be so thankful.
I am so sorry to hear that Julie! I have a friend who was diagnosed with diabetes but was healed through eating real food, lots of protein, natural carbs like vegetables and real fats like butter. You can read more about the plan at WestonAPrice.org or in the cookbook Nourishing Traditions. One tip is to buy only in-season produce and to look for mark downs on meat. This is a great time of year to stock up on inexpensive turkeys!
Thank you so much for the info…funny thing is he is a farmer?. But portion size seems to have gotten out of control. Checking out the cookbook and the website, thanks again!
You are very welcome!
