Have you ever seen those contests where the shopper wins whatever she can throw in the cart before time is up? That was me this week as I had a 30 minute time slot to shop for groceries and no list — agghhh!
I ended up spending way too much and I realized when I arrived home that I had only purchased enough for six dinners this week instead of seven. And as you might expect there are no photos of the groceries.
Weekly Total: $212.64
(Yes, you read that correctly.)
May Monthly Total: $504.39
So I have already spent the grocery budget for the month and we still have a week and a half left in June. Before you accuse me of false advertising, give me one more week to see if I can stick to the $125/week budget. Trust me, next week we will be eating super cheap meals!

Do your teens eat lunch at home?! I don’t think I could get by with smoothies and popcorn with my 9, 11, and 14 year old boys.
They all do except for my oldest who just turned 20. He buys lunch 4 to 5 days a week at work and eats with us when he is home the other two days. He will actually drink a smoothie and eat popcorn but if he is still hungry he can make a PBJ. Using butter on the popcorn makes it surprisingly filling but of course, you should do what works for your family. I am simply giving info about what we do. 🙂
Having meal plans saves me so much money and all the stress of trying to decide what to make. I make 2 week plans and adjust as needed. This week I am making:
Baked drumsticks, BBQ baked beans, green beans and homemade wheat bread
Pork chops, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies
Chicken and rice casserole, veggies
Quiche, fruit salad
Chicken parmesan, spaghetti, green beans, garlic bread sticks
“Salisbury steaks” (made from ground turkey and black beans), oven fries, veggies
Grilled pork, pasta salad, veggies
Yum! Can I come over to your house? 😉
