I just wanted to write a quick update for you. On the night of Valentine’s Day while I was stopped in traffic my car was rear-ended by a man driving full speed at around 40 miles per hour. The driver of the second vehicle saw that his car was totaled and ran off on foot with his female companion into the darkness — a literal hit and “run”.
The impact of the crash was quite intense but I miraculously escaped without any broken bones or major injuries, and thankfully no one else was in the car with me. I do, however, have soft tissue and muscle pain and it is difficult for me to sit up for any long periods of time. Unfortunately this means I will not be able to write very much for the next few days while I am resting and recovering.
We will find out about our vehicle today and whether it is reparable or a total loss.
Thank you once again for your patience and if you are new to The Peaceful Mom let me assure you that this is not the norm!
Praying for you, Kimberlee. Sometimes the more things go wrong, the more they keep going wrong. May you heal rapidly and completely. You have a special place in my life, and in the lives of many others. Thank you for all the inspiring and helpful ideas you share. Please be at peace while you take the time you need to get well. Sending prayers for blessings during your convalescence.
Thanks so much for your encouragement Katherine!
Sending healing energy your way Kimberlee! So sorry to hear about the accident. I’m living in a parallel universe to yours with “one thing after another” and so look forward to hearing from you via your blog entries. Feel better soon!
I am so sorry you are having a difficult time as well Heather. Prayers for you too!
Prayers out to you. I had three such rear-enders every 5 years for 15 years, and it has left my spine deteriorating. Thought I had a black cloud over my head. Please take great care with your neck and spine, do the therapy, etc. It may take a while, so don’t worry about us…we’re praying for YOU. 🙂
I am so sorry that you experienced that Joan but I agree that I need to take care of myself. I did see a doctor and I am being treated. Thank you for your encouragement!
Thank you Bonnie!
Thank you!
I’m so sorry for your accident. I hope you start to feel better and you get good news about your vehicle.
Thank you Jennifer!
Thank you Claire! I assume they can find the driver that way as well but my insurance company thought that perhaps the vehicle was stolen and that’s why they left the scene. It’s out of my hands at this point but I trust that God will take care of us. 🙂
Oh wow, I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes sense given how odd it was that they just abandoned the car after the accident. Praying that this gets resolved in your favor.
Thanks Claire!
Thank you Jennifer!
Take it easy. I had a similar incident happen to me a few years back, but they did catch the lady. She knew she had no brakes, ran the red light, hit my vehicle in the front driver side, spun my car around and hit me head-on, then bounced off my car and side-swiped another vehicle fleeing the scene. She tried to hide her vehicle in a row of hedges about 3/4 mile down the road and flee on foot. She was caught. Then she had the audicity to try to sue all of us including the police. Needless to say, she lost all of the cases.
Wow — that’s crazy! So glad you are okay Debi.
This is definitely not what you needed right now! Praying you and your daughter recover quickly!
Thanks so much Becky!
I’m so sorry! I pray the Lord strengthens you! I am so glad you are safe, and I can’t believe the people literally RAN away!
Crazy, right? Thanks for your prayers Lisa.
I’m so sorry to hear this Kimberlee! I assume they’ll be able to find the other driver by looking up his registration? I hope his insurance company will cover the expenses for you. And most importantly, I’m glad you’re okay.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Praying for you and your family.
So sorry, praying for you!
OH NO!!! I’m sorry to hear this! Sending prayers your way.
Thanks Amber!
Kimberlee,
I was in a hit and run accident just like you described. Stopped waiting to turn and hit by someone at about 45 mph and they just drove away. Fortunately there were several witnesses, but it was a mess. I am writing to you because I want to encourage you to have your neck and spine treated ASAP. I waited too long and the soft tissue damage can take longer to heal than actual lacerations and broken bones. (The doctors words). It has been a few years and I still have effects from it because I didn’t have enough treatment.
Also, the real pain often doesn’t show up until many days or a week later. PLEASE be certain you get the care you need.
oh my goodness….praying you heal quickly
Thanks so much Karen!
So sorry that happened to you! Praying for a speedy recovery for you. Hang in there – things ARE going to get better!!!
Thanks so much Robyn!
