For the sake of time I shopped only at Aldi (a discount chain) this week.
Aldi Produce
I was happy to find some good produce deals. I will save the potatoes for next week.
Best Produce Deals:
blueberries 4 ounces for $1.25 each
bananas 44 cents/pound
cucumbers 59 cents each
Fuji apples $2.99 for 3 pound bag
grape tomatoes $1.69/pint
avocados 59 cents each
potatoes $3.29 for a 10 pound bag
Aldi Refrigerated and Frozen Items
We have a very busy schedule so I purchased some convenience foods this week like the frozen fries and the pizza you see below. I spent a little bit more for the convenience but still less than ordering take out pizza or going through the drive through.
Aldi Grocery Items
Aldi Meat Items
The chicken thighs were $.99 a pound but I paid extra for the chicken breasts because I did not have the time to drive to another store this week.
See our $125 Budget Weekly Menu here.
Weekly Total: $124.33
January Monthly Total: $224.59
($125/week budget for six people so I am just under budget for this week — yay!)

Hi Stephanie –
You can read a more detailed response here: https://thepeacefulmom.com/2012/03/06/qa-what-do-you-do-about-snacks/. Basically we don’t eat many “snack foods” but of course you should do what works best for your family. 🙂
Do you include snacks in your budget? I spend $200 every two weeks for a family of 5 and I always feel like Im skimping too much on our foods.
