Aldi Produce and Meat
A reader mentioned this week that the meat prices at her local Aldi are higher than that of other stores. I have also noticed the higher meat prices at my Aldi as well but they are cheaper than Publix (my next closest store) and the stores where I can find the cheapest meat are several miles out of my normal route. I have been buying the more expensive meat at Aldi because I have not had time to drive to the other stores.
Best Produce Deals:
1 pound baby carrots 69 cents
3 pounds red onions $1.59
Haas avocados 59 cents each
cucumbers 25 cents each
1 pint grape tomatoes 99 cents
bananas 44 cents a pound
Aldi Refrigerated and Frozen Items
I always splurge on the freshly grated Parmesan cheese rather than buying the dried stuff in a can. The taste of fresh food is always incomparably better than canned or frozen.
Aldi Grocery Items
I purchased the specialty pasta for $1.69 a bag to make pasta salad for a party we will be attending this weekend.
Publix Grocery Items
I also spent way too much money on a bottle of Teriyaki sauce ($4.69) because I did not want to take the time to make it from scratch. My total at Publix was $18.06.
Weekly Total: $146.08
Monthly Total: $397.12
($125/week budget for six people so I am over budget for this week. )
