My Creative Projects: Art Journaling Patterns
Engaging in creative projects increases my productivity, helps me to connect spiritually and makes me happy so I plan specific times each week to express my creativity. (Read about how I create more time in my schedule here.)
Lately I have been crazy about drawing patterns in my art journal. It’s so relaxing.
I started with black and white patterns…
and then moved to color.
This might be my favorite.
I have zero artistic talent but I keep trying and you can too! Read How to Do Art Journaling here.

I tried to make an art page today with colored pencils and it was not working for me. I do keep a prayer journal, and I also have lots of journals of notes from books I’ve read. I’m not that creative though drawing. I was thinking though that my creative outlet is photography. I just have a point and shoot camera, but I’ve been taking pictures for four years and putting them on my 365 project. I upload a photo a day. That is what excites me and I try to be creative when I can. No matter where I go, it’s more fun with a camera so I can capture something cool from my outing. Sometimes it’s kind of like a photo journal. http://365project.org/julie/365-2/2014-08-03 Here’s my project if anyone wants to check it out.
I love it! Photography is definitely a creative outlet and it looks like you have talent. I will say that my first attempts at art journaling were not what I would call successful but as I have continued working I have improved. I also find lots of ideas and techniques on Pinterest. If you want to continue art journaling, just keep trying but if you decide that photography is your thing, stick with that.
those designs are so pretty, love them all.
Thank you Julie!
