It’s March which is a great time to check your progress on your financial goals for 2013. Hopefully you have posted your goals in a place where you can see them regularly. It’s much easier to make your money behave when you have specific goals in the forefront of your mind.
You can read more about our 6 month financial goals here, but so far this year we have been able to:
Save $1000 in our starter Emergency Fund. √
Save for $500 car repair. √
Save for badly needed mattress. √
We have another car repair that we are saving for, and then we will be working on adding an additional $1000 to our Emergency Fund. After that we will be saving for some fun items like my son’s graduation party and a trip to a friend’s wedding.
Have you met any financial goals this year? Leave a comment. 🙂

Have you seen the 52 week challenge? You start off my saving $1.00 and then add another $1 every week until the 52nd week you will be saving $52.00 that final week.
At the end of 52 weeks, we would have saved over $1,300.00.
That sounds like a great idea to help ease into saving painlessly. Thanks Robert!

A Facebook group of doing the challenge. Most people are on week 12 but you can start now and make your 52nd week March 2014. There is a graph that illustrates how the savings add up.
Hi Kimberlee,
I am happy to report we are making our final payment today on our 2nd lien which was due to mature in another 8 years. Me and my hubby decided to buckle down and get rid of it, as we are shooting to pay off our primary mortgage in 48 months but before we start that we have 6 more months of a car payment, then we will be well on our way. We have a pretty good emergency fund in place already. God has been so good to our family and I am so thankful that he has guided me to your blog for encouragement. Keep up the good work!!
Woohoo! Way to go Dani! Congratulations on staying focused, and thanks for taking the time to share your accomplishment with me. 🙂
We went from 2 incomes to one, due to having two boys 18mos apart. I’m ashamed to admit we really had no financial goals/plans, as a result found ourselves in a mountain of debt with no emergency funds. And oh boy do the emergencies arise. I am grateful to have come across your blog. We now have a plan in place and know we can make smarter financial choices. Thank you!
Good for you Elizabeth! I’m glad I could help. 🙂
I have evil credit cards but am working on paying them off I have already paid one off and have two more payments on the other.
I can’t wait to get rid of them. I’m also saving for two trips
one to LA in July and the other is a BIG TRIP in the Spring of 2014 I’m on budget so far with my savings for these (I plan, save, and work every deal I can)
As of now I’m doing pretty good.
Todd for you for getting them paid off Jaime!
I was able to save $1,000 for a down payment on my son’s braces. I have to admit that some of that “saving” was accidental as both of my jobs messed up my paychecks, not paying me on time. Frustrating to not get paid when I should, but a blessing in disguise!
You are such an inspiration to us, Kimberlee! We have met a few financial goals so far which are: bringing our mortgage back to current AND refinancing the loan to save $200/month & 5 years on the life of the loan (30 to 25 years); paid off one super nagging bill that is saving another $200/month, and have the money to pay our back property taxes ($2600). Well, not paid yet but will be on the 15th.
We are having a GREAT start to our financial year! xo
Woohoo Christi! Way to go!
My husband and I are expecting our first baby in October, and one of the things we started last year was saving up for at least the delivery fee. We’ve succeeded at that,at least. 🙂 Now it’s time to save big time for all the things we don’t even know we need!
Good job Jaime! Don’t worry, you can find lots of things used or borrow from a friend. 🙂
