Oreck Vacuum Cleaner Give Away!

Yes, you read that correctly–The Peaceful Mom is hosting an Oreck Vacuum Cleaner Give Away!

Our family has a long, miserable history with vacuum cleaners. Being on a budget, we naturally bought the cheapest vacuum cleaners we could find, but those usually broke within a year or lost their ability to actually suck up the dirt. As each vacuum died, we would purchase another cheap vacuum and repeat the cycle.

Finally two years ago we did some research and purchased a vacuum cleaner in the $130 range. We were happy with it, but again, it lost is suction power and started to emit a slight burning smell. The repairs on the vacuum would be more than the cost of a new one, but we didn’t have extra money to purchase a new vacuum cleaner.

Oreck to the rescue! A few weeks ago the Oreck company graciously sent me one of their new Oreck Magnesium vacuum cleaners to try. I really enjoyed using it, and I especially like three features of this vacuum:

 

It’s light weight.

When I received the package I assumed it would be heavy like my other vacuums, so I had my son bring it in. HELLO! This vacuum is SUPER light weight and therefore super easy to use.

 

It’s compact.

Not only is the Magnesium light weight, it’s compact enough to fit easily into our tiny hall closet. Even if you have a large closet, who wants the vacuum cleaner to take up unnecessary space?

 

It has an extra long cord.

I hate having to unplug and replug the vacuum every time I move to another room. With the Magnesium, problem solved. I can actually vacuum mulitple rooms without ever moving the plug.

 

In addition to these great features, the sporty design actually makes me want to vacuum, and believe me, that is quite the accomplishment! It works well on both our tile and our carpet and has amazing suction. It also lies flat so that you can vacuum under furniture without moving it.

The Magnesium vacuum is a bit pricey and I would consider it out of our budget range, but if you have the money and want a really good vacuum, I think you will like it.

 

Oreck also sent me their Ultimate Hand Vac to try. It’s also super lightweight and perfect for vacuuming out the car or cleaning under those sofa cushions (even if it’s only once a year! 🙂 ).

    I do love that the Magnesium has a “Quickswitch” for changing between floor types – my current (ancient, on it’s last legs) vacuum I have to turn off, wait for the motor to stop, then change the pile height before I can switch from carpet to different carpet or hardwood.

    I looked at the steam mops. Oreck steam products create “dry” steam, a high-temperature, low-moisture steam vapor.
    Far superior to the mop bucket, in my opinion! 🙂

    Subscribed to the newsletter. I just wanted to say I love oreck. I have a very old one that is held together with duct tape and the cord has been black tapped and it still works amazing. I have RA and it is so light weight that I can vacuum without worry about the pain in my hands and back. Hubby has tried to buy me one of those walmart jobs but I refuse. If my oreck quits I am in trouble. lol So for all those out there who have not tried an Oreck you must. Mine came from a yard sale years ago (what were they thinking huh) and its held together with love.

    I just serviced my clunker vacuum at an Oreck Store on Tues. April 24th. As I was paying, with 5 daycare kids in tow, the clerk said “Let me show you something.” He walked me over to the “Magnesium.” You see, my vacuum doesn’t work well on long carpet…wish someone would have told me that sooner.     I have been dreaming about a new vacuum for a couple years…. mine does an okay job (but not great) and is hard to maneuver, which makes vacuuming impossible on my ‘weak days’… That’s why I’m excited about the possibility of the Magnesium with “cylindrical wheel bearings” that promise easy maneuverability!
