If you have been reading The Peaceful Mom for very long, then you know I love my plants! They bring such color and beauty to my home.
Even though I love plants, I’m not that great at caring for them (I once let a cactus die from not watering it.). Thankfully there are lots of resources available to help me.
One new product that I will be trying in order to keep my plants flourishing is Scott’s new Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix. According to Scott’s, with Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix your plants will benefit from:
• Up to 3X the Flowers and Vegetables (vs. native soil)
• Improved soil quality for multiple years
• Feeding for up to 6 months
Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix is different from basic potting and garden soils because it contains a unique combination of Miracle‐Gro plant food and coconut coir fiber, a lightweight, all‐natural material derived from coconut husk. Due to the lightweight consistency of coir, Expand ‘n Gro is not only great for improving your soil quality, but it’s also easy to transport and store.
The all natural fibers in Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix hold up to 50% more water than basic potting soil and the mix expands up to 3X when water is added.
Expand ‘n GroTM is only available at lawn and garden retailers in the Midwest, Northeast and Texas as of right now, but you can win a FREE sample.

Just got our vegatables ready to plant. Tomatoes, Okra, Green Beans, Corn, Herbs, Peppers, and Lettuce on the agenda this year!! Love feeding my family fresh produce for none of the cost 🙂
I live in Texas but i’m from Alabama and we planted a few tomatoes and peppers here but they didnt do good at all because of the heat. We are planning to move back to alabama soon and i cant wait to be able to plant me a garden that i used to love to do.Love having home grown veggies to eat and can for the winter months.I also love flowers to, but wasnt going to chance tryin to plant some in tx.Thanks for all your tips. Love your blog.
I love to grow fresh herbs!
I love to grow veggies and herbs mostly. I’d like to get more into flowers and learn about mixing colours, heights etc to get really good looking flower beds 🙂
I would be happy if anything stayed alive… I love sunflowers 🙂
I love to grow veggies. This is my 3rd year for my raised box garden and I am going to try okra in it this year. I also love growing flowers but sadly all my bulbs rotted over the winter and are all mush 🙁
When my next-door-neighbor was alive (she was like a grandmother to the kids), she would winter over coleus & bring me some every spring. I’d give it a go, planting the plants in our window box on the railing of our front porch. Hoping to grow some this summer & winter over for next year, just like she did.
Happy gardening!
I love to grow veggies! Currently I am working my seed trays with sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, cauliflower, melon, and a few herbs. I am using pinterest to inspire my gardening techniques using recycles toilet paper as seed pots and recycling wooden crates for raised beds! I am super excited and cant wait for them to be ready to transfer into the ground!!! =D I would love to try out Miracle Gro Expand n Gro. to help insure my veggies have the optimal opportunity to grow and expand from the garden to the table!
We try to eat home grown veggies… If I won, I’d plant tomatoes and Basil in a pot to enjoy all summer long!!
We are making our first family garden this year. I wanted a wild flowers mix and tomatoes, but my boys voted and we are also planting peppers, pumpkins, sunflowers, and corn. Hopefully something grows! 🙂
I want to transplant some geraniums this year. My dad kept the same geranium plants for 20 years, He passed away 1 1/2 years ago and I want to get a start and grow some myself. This potting soil sounds ideal for growing them!
I love growing herbs! I’m living in an apartment right now, but still planning to grow my own herbs and tomatoes on my balcony, beause having fresh ones for a little while, the taste is no comparison!
I pretend to be a gardener, but in reality, I’m very lazy about it, so I grow things that don’t need much maintenance. 🙂 Love to have flowers in my yard, so this year I’m going to TRY and be better about it!
I love to grow flowers and put it a few veggies in the garden!!!
I love to plant periannuals in the yard but pots of annuals on the porch – the last two years have not been able to do that so am praying this year I will be able to make it pop with color….
My husband & I both love to grow all kinds of flowers with color but prefer perenials that come back each year. We started landscaping our home in Oklahoma 2 yrs ago. and all the plants and color brought life to the outside of our home. Thanks to a dear friend that brought us starters from her garden (saved us lots of $) and helped us plan our dream on paper we were able to see we could acheive what we both dreamed of on a budget. This year I want to transfer starters from our flower beds to pots & bring color to our patio area too. We would love to try Miracle Gro Expand n Gro. & continue our landscaping dreams.
We have recently moved to Colorado and love the dry air, but it is not so good for growing plants. We have a couple of hanging baskets where we would li8ke to plant pansies, and I am sure they will need some special water holding soil to survive. We are not allowed to use the water here for outside watering, so we must make the best of what we get. This would help a lot!! Thank you!
I love Miracle-Gro Cause that’s what my plants do when planted with it!!
Any kind of hardy, perininal plant, that attracts local wildlife (butterflies, frogs, lizards, etc). I LOVE to be outside, even in Alabama summers! With two active kids (6 & 2), we are already outside a lot! We have a “can o’ worms”, that is just now maturing!!! & the “starter food” for the worms was a substance that contained the coconut coil fiber as well. A little different texture, but still pretty cool in my book!
I think I might look into the soil on amazon, thanks for the tip. & let me know if you would like some “black tea”!

I like to grow flowers
I am going to use it for my new porch flower pots.
I love to grow flowers and veggies, but it seems that I don’t have as much time as I did to be able to care for them. I have some bare root lilies that need to go into the ground soon. Anything that will help me grow more with less work would be a real help.
I grew up on a large farm. My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to build our home on a corner of a field. So our yard and landscaping were a blank slate. We are slowly adding bushes and trees. Last year we added grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and peaches. I can’t wait to see how they turn out this year!!
I love to grow veggies on our deck, but I haven’t been very successful at it yet!
I love to grow all kinds of vegetables. The best part about it is letting my son help and experience the wonder of growing your own food. Only problem is he loves kiwi and wants to “plant” some!
Roses…..I love them!!!
I want to start a veggie garden so this would be great! As soon as I move into my new place I will be making one.
I love to garden! Last spring and summer my mom for my birthday came to my house and we built flower beds and she took me to smiths garden and let me pick out flowers!! So much fun, but then our outrageously hot summer killed everything :(! So excited to do it again! Oh and love love live your blog!
I always plant geraniums and other summer flowers in pots on my patio and some kind of hanging basket near my front door. Wish I had more space for flowers! I love planting as well but not good at keeping them alive either!!
I have planted 100 Gladiolas, 20 tulips, 7 peonies, 7 amaryllis and over 100 other bulb flowers that I don’t know the name….I am anxiously awaiting for the beauties to arrive!
Soooooooo excited!
Love to plant Geraniums but I don’t have much luck with them. They always get leggier and turn yellow. Oh well!
I like to grow Dahlias. I’m sure they’d benefit from this enriched soil.
I’m new to gardening. I’ve started seeds for green bell peppers, marigolds & tomatoes. In a few weeks I’ll start seeds for watermelon, corn & potatoes.
I’ll have my yearly summer continer garden, consisting of some flowers for color, some basil (which usually flourishes), and some tomatoes (which tend to get eaten by the dog before me, but i keep trying!).
I am looking forward to having my first little patio garden this summer, hopefully with lots of herbs and maybe some veggies!
I would like to grow tomatoes in a container this summer and this new mix sounds interesting.
I just planted a lilac bush, praying this one takes. Last year’s did not survive…
I planted my first garden last summer! I’m planning on doing it again and I want to plant some herbs this year as well.
Last year was terrible for tomatoes in central MN. This year I am doing my first raised vegetable bed. Since I am looking for EASY and inexpensive, I’ll stick to cool season plants like beets, spinach, carrots, leaf lettuce, and onions.
I just came inside from starting my spring gardening. Being a school teacher, my lawn and garden don’t get a lot of attention until school is out. Boy, would I love a boost for my plants so they can ‘do their thing’ while I’m at scholl until I get out in a couple of months to spend more time with them. I love roses, zinnias, cucumbers for pickles, and peppers for pepper jelly the very best!
All of my houseplants have needed re-potting for several years, and I would love to plant herbs in my kitchen window.
both veggies and flowers- can’t wait to plant my garden this year! 🙂
We just bought a house and I can’t wait to start my raised-bed gardens!! I LOVE gardening. We just went from 2 salaries down to 1 so I can stay home with our son. Money is tight so a garden is going to be our fresh food market! 😀
I grow anything that will let me! Ha! I have weird sun exposure & live in a condo, so I basically grow flowers in pots. I like to put together different plants in colors and sizes in various pots on my front porch. I especially like hostas which I planted years ago in a flower bed and they come back every year-love that!
I love growing tomatoes – but DH does a better job. I am apparently best suited to growing mint in a container – but I love my mint as well.
I like to grow geraniums
My favorite are my houseplants, and chief among them are african violets and my impossible to kill zz plant. It has been through so many moves and looked completely dead so many times, but just keeps on coming back. You should look for one, Kimberlee!
I love to grow everything!! I live in Texas and I have two raised vegetable plots with a sandbox in between (for my five year old :). Right now I have corn, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and sugar snap peas coming up plus three potted blueberry bushes, two peach trees, two pecan trees and one huge rosemary bush.
We have four kids and your site has been a God-send to me. Truly inspirational. Thanks for what you are doing.
Thanks so much Rebecca!
I’d like to grow some flowers. We live in a townhome, so I don’t have a yard. 🙂
I love growing anything yellow 🙂 This time of year I am in love with the Daffodils growing outside my front door and I cannot wait for the Sunflowers to come up!
I have a 3 year old who just loves nature. So, to build upon her interest we are going to plant a flower garden this Spring. I just have to convince her these flowers are not for picking. She loves to pick our dandelions from the yard. This would be an awesome start to our Mommy & Me flower garden : )
I love growing anything that will grow here in Florida. We can have blooming flowers 365 days a year. I have so many blooming African Violets right now and it just makes me smile when I get my hands dirty. I always feel closer to God when I work in the dirt.
I love growing fresh herbs, and what my husband calls a “salsa” garden of tomatoes, peppers, onions, cilantro, and garlic!
I’m a terrible gardener. I tried a garden last year with veggies and didn’t do so well. Of course the 90+ weather didn’t help. Going to give it a shot again this year and get my girls (4 and 6) more involved to try to help them enjoy eating healthier foods. This product sounds awesome!
I recenly moved into my very first house and will be having my very first garden (and backyard…). I LOVE growing flowers, especially cut flowers and cannot wait to be able to have all my favorites right in my backyard.
I love to grow any kind of flower. Right now my tulips are blooming and I love to see them when I leave in the morning and when I get home in the afternoon. I am still in the process of planting flowers and plants (landscaping) around our house we built a few years ago.
I absolute do NOT have a green thumb. I struggle every year to grow 2 tomato plants. I grow 2 because one is sure to die. There is nothing better than a fresh, ripe tomato from the garden, except maybe the aroma of the first cup of coffee in the morning.
I love growing veggies!! Tomatoes, especially.
Great giveaway. I like to grow flowers. I have lots of herbs and veggies too. I love your website.
I love to grow the Endless Summer Hydrangeas. They are my favorite flower.
My great grandmother died last May and last fall we transferred her rose bush to our home. We really didn’t think it was going to make it but seeing the leaves coming up on it just brings a smile to my face. I’m hoping to have some beautiful red roses surrounded by my purple tulips (which are my favorite). 🙂
