I used to hate it when older moms would say things like,”Hold on to your babies. They’ll be grown before you know it!” The early days with four children ages five and under seemed to take forever. Sure there were sweet memories, but the work load was intense and I wondered when I would ever get a break.
Now I know what those moms meant. My son took this photo last week and when I saw it I just couldn’t believe how big my “little” girls look. It’s a reminder to hold on to these days when children are home because they are fleeting.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I am currently at this stage with 4 under 5 (our 4th just being 2 months old) and my days feel so overwhelming! The house is never in order no matter how hard I try and with a 2 and 3 year old I feel like I’m always disciplining and I often wonder “Will I ever get a break?” This is a great reminder and I will be posting that quote to my fridge to see it everyday!
Hang in there Kasey! 🙂
Our life is but a vapor….Every season the Lord brings is a good one. I loved the teen years and thought they were so fun. Its also good when you get to see them become adults and rejoice in their accomplishments. There is somthing special when they come home and visit too. They appreciate you and their siblings and that is wonderful. Yes, enjoy these years but don’t stop there because it is all good and worthy of thanks.
That is a very good word Raynell! Thanks! 🙂
It’s so true! I too have four children and when they were younger and I was exhausted, I used to long for a time when it would get easier as they got older. Then a friend shared an expression with me that changed my outlook. “The days are long, but the years are short” Now I try to treasure all the time I can with them, because it truly is fleeting.
Love that quote Sue–thanks!
