Here’s an idea for easy wall decor: I found this photo on Pinterest, but the original artwork is from BallardDesigns.com and costs $169.00.
You could do a similar project for much less using scrapbook paper like this and cheap frames from the dollar or thrift store.
Big impact for little money!
Tell me what you think in the comments. π
Oh and I was thinking about adding a small resin applique in the middle, it’s my family room so I am worried if would be good or not, hope it does.
That sounds cute!
Hi, I am trying to make something like this and my wall is orange and large area but I wanted to bring some white and blue( i got a pretty blue curtain on sale in jcpenny 60 dollar curtain for 12 dollars and water fall valace, sorry couldn’t help, lol) . So, I got some beautiful print from Michaels and those are 12 by 12, if I frame these I am afraid it would be little white more blue since dollar store has only 8 by 10. I am little stressed, I thought about styrofoam and canvas but nothing comes in the sizes to keep extra spaces around the picture. I guess I have to get some frames from craiglist a little wider frame or just have to give up the idea of adding more white. I kept looking and ran into yours blog, yours one came out really nice, thanks for sharing; i am encouraged now.
You might find a square 12×12 painting canvas at an art supply store and apply the prints to those. Let me know how it works out. π
Thank you for your kind reply, I thought about that and yet in dilemma having a space around the pic. I feel like my styro may not work and I have to get that canvas, haha.
I hope your project works out well! Send me a photo of the finished project if you like. π
Thank you Kimberlee, I will send you pic. I had some disaster using glue. I thought mod podge works like glue and tried on poster board to attach to styrofoam, didn’t stick, then I was an idiot and put e6000 which partially melted my styrofoam but I was able to salvage. And tachy glue made my poster board bent like a boat (so I put some book on top). So, I am almost towards the end, I ran out of ribbon to attach around and I have to attach those applique.
By the way, this is first time such major project for me, never used e6000 in my life before, didn’t know it has so many hazards. If my hubby wasn’t against holes on the wall, I would have gone with frames (big lots have some nice frames which are cheap, and I could have painted them in white). I have to attach them with double tape in the wall. I went to fedex and hubby cut the poster board in there for me but I had to cut my styrofoam (I got 6 foam 14 1/2 by 48 I think for 11 dollar from homedepot). My boards are 14
by 14 and pictures are now 11 by 11. (sorry for my lengthy blabbering).
I tried to attach the progress of my project pic in the mail but it failed.
Wow! Sounds like you’ve had quiet the challenge! If you will click here and send me an email again, I’ll send instructions for sending me the photo. π
I have seen this recently on a smaller scale with old CD cases as the frame part. You can also print one big picture and cut it up to fit the frames.
I like the idea of cutting one picture up into smaller pictures. That would look really great. Thanks Emilie!
I love this idea. You are awesome, Kimberlee. I love coming to see what you are sharing with us everyday!
Thanks so much Sherry! I’m glad you are enjoying the website. π
