Our family had a spontaneous outing one night this week that turned out to be really fun.
Who says you have to spend tons of money to have fun with your family?
Two nights ago we took our four children ages 9-15 to the library. The younger children checked out books and picked up their prizes for the summer reading program. The 15 year old chose some movies with my husband.
We stopped by the grocery store where I shopped and my children looked at new and interesting products with my husband. We then went to the local Chic-Fil-A to purchase ice cream cones which we enjoyed while riding down a winding country road with the windows down.
Our plan was to play Wii when we got home, but after everyone showered it was too late. (Wii tournament later today!)
I realize that not every family would enjoy this kind of outing, but it was nice to do something simple and just enjoy being together. Sometimes the simpler things in life are the most enjoyable.
