My sweet husband mentioned to me this week that he had been excited about the Kroger meal ideas on the blog because the recipes sounded so delicious. He felt a little disappointed when we didn’t actually eat what I had posted.
So I thought I should make it clear that the Meal Ideas with Kroger Deals are a starting point. They are for women who are just beginning to use the stock up method of grocery shopping or for those who need ideas to even make a menu (I’ve been there!). I give some regular, day to day recipes and one or two more exciting versions. These are just to get you thinking about how to use primarily sale items in your cooking each week so that you can begin to save more money on groceries.
The reality is that I am cooking each week with items from my pantry and freezer (previously purchased on sale), so we may not use the Kroger meal ideas from this particular week.
In an effort to promote truth in advertising, here is our actual menu for this week 4/30-5/7 (*items from the pantry or freezer):
Burgers on the Grill w/ Broccoli Slaw Salad
Hot dogs*, leftover Broccoli Slaw Salad
Taco Salad (ground beef*, tortilla chips*, salad)
Baked Potatoes* with Broccoli* and Bacon*
Sauteed Shrimp with Rice* and Sugar Snap Peas*
Black Beans* and Rice*
Italian Sausage Pasta with Cheesy Biscuits and Salad
Glamorous, right? I had a very busy week so we had a lot of easy food from the freezer. In my defense, we did use two meal ideas from this week.
I hope this helps someone, even if it is only my husband. By the way, Honey, I promise to make you some Dirty Rice.
Thank you, you are the best 🙂 Can’t wait until the dirty rice. Uuuuummmmmmmm!!!!
