Want to go out with your husband, but it’s not in the budget? Check out this ideas for cheap dates.
Eat Dinner at Home- We often eat our main meal at home and then go out to split a dessert. We recently found a new coffee shop with great atmosphere where we can enjoy some quiet conversation.
Buy an Entertainment Coupon Book– You can find these books on-line and at various retailers. Wait until the middle of the year and purchase the book at a substantial discount. The best deals tend to be BOGO restaurant deals and discounted movie tickets. Go here to check the coupons available for your area. [UPDATE: We haven’t used these in years so I’m not certain they are still a good deal.}
Take Advantage of Birthday Deals– Check local restaurants to see if they offer a free birthday meal. After paying for the non-birthday meal, we essentially go out for half-price.
Trade Babysitting– Find another couple with similar values who would like to trade babysitting. If you have small children, it sometimes works better to trade with a family with older children. The older children can help with the smaller ones and the parents aren’t overwhelmed by having 5 toddlers in their home at once.
Venture into the Great Outdoors– Have a picnic in the park, or take a hike or bike ride together. Get ice cream afterwards.
Find Free Resources– There are many museums which offer a free day once a month. Free local tours can be found in your newspaper or you can make your own tour of a downtown area.
What you do on the date isn’t as important as going out together and remembering why you married each other in the first place. 🙂
