Check out this tip from Real Simple: Run an empty dishwasher with one packet of lemonade flavored Kool Aid to get rid of lime deposits and iron stains. Evidently this flavor of Kool Aid contains citric acid which does the trick. I’d say that’s a pretty good investment of $.10-$.20!

this sounds great was wondering though would the off-brand work? I have some pkgs of that & thought I would try them instead of buying the name brand.
I have no idea Karen, but I am sure it wouldn’t hurt anything to try.
Is that an unsweetened package of kool aide?
The article didn’t say, but I am betting that unsweetened would be better. The citric acid is the ingredient you want. No need to pay for extra sugar.
Orange Tang or Lemon juice or anything with high citric acid will work too
used some chunky pld country time lemonade, amazing!
